Last Concert of the Summer

This summer has been full of so many fun things like travel, and Broadway, and Foodie fun, but not a lot of concerts.  So I believe tonight was my first and last concert of the summer. And thankfully it was a fantastic one!  I got to see Kristin Chenoweth at Wolf Trap in VA. I've never seen her in concert and had never been to Wolf Trap.  Both were fabulous!

The venue was tucked away back in the woods and made of beautiful wood.  It had been raining all day so I was super happy to learn we wouldn't be sitting  in the grass, and once I saw how great our seats were, I was even happier.

And of course, Kristin Chenoweth was perfect.  She sang mostly songs I didn't know.  I was slightly hoping she'd sing a bit more Wicked but she did sing Popular so I suppose that made up for it.  She's very funny and very grateful for her fans.  All in all it was a wonderful evening to mark the end of summer - Boo!

Wickedly Wishful Wednesday

After seriously persuading 2 people at work today that they should get themselves to NYC and see Wicked immediately, I've had the songs and lyrics stuck in my head on a constant loop.  For all the love that Frozen is receiving, I feel that Wicked is infinitely better at the whole sisterly love thing.  The music is incredible and the story is even better.  I'm definitely wishing I was seeing it live again some time soon, though it will never be as good as the first time with Idina Menzel (or is it Adele Dazeem? : ), Kristin Chenoweth and Joel Grey.

This has gone down in my book as the best bad day, sing to the top of your lungs, rock out in your car song ever!

Defy Gravity!

There are always moments in films or television or theatre that make you unmistakably, smile from ear-to-ear happy.  Whether it be a line said a certain way, or the culmination of a big love story or just your favorite character being your favorite character.  I must admit I have tons of these little moments.  Defying Gravity from "Wicked" being at the top of that list. (And this is coming from the girl who hates the "Wizard of Oz"!)  Anyone who's ever seen "Wicked" has probably chosen this song as their favorite so I'm sure I'm not alone.

But it is by far the one song I turn to if I'm having a bad day.  It's about the most perfect song to sing alone in your car to the top of your lungs.  I was lucky enough to see Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth perform it live and they brought down the house.  I got goosebumps just listening to them and I still do just listening on my iPod.  Without a doubt, the perfect song for a cold and wet and dreary Monday.

If you have any doubts just how fabulous this song really is, just take a listen below.  I dare you not to get it stuck in your head!

Sunday Loves

1. Kristin Chenoweth's Oscar Dress: My absolute favorite of the evening, Gorgeous!
2. George Clooney at the Oscars: Even with his Paul Bunyan-esque beard, he's the handsomest man in the room.  Though I'm slightly biased, he can do no wrong in my book : )
3. My new tea shelf in the kitchen.
4. Chocolate-Chocolate Cupcakes courtesy of Chef Dad.
5. Lazy Sundays.
