Saturday Six

1. Emporiyum: The day started off badly (2.5 hours to get somewhere that should have only taken 1) but when I finally arrived, it was awesome!  The DC version was much bigger than Baltimore's (of course that meant so many more people!)  But there was ramen, smores pie, cheese curds, handmade oreos, and so much more.  Gotta love a whole day devoted to eating!

2. Another week, another awesome British Christmas ad.  I'm not sure the Christmas Eve truce during WWI was quite so open and optimistic, but the ad is beautiful!

3. Paul McCartney mixed with Billy Joel: How can you not love this version!?

4. 19 British Places All Book Lovers should Visit: These have now all been added to my To-Do list.  2 down, only 17 to go.

5. Is it wrong that after reading Eat. Pray. Love. I'm a little in love with the idea of going to India and doing the whole Yoga thing?

6. Aside from the whole, he's newly engaged thing, I'm still in love with him!  After watching this video, how can you not be?

Happy 50th Fab Four!

Admittedly, seeing as though yesterday was the 50th anniversary of their appearance on the Ed Sullivan show, I should have posted this last night but I was a little too caught up in the Olympics fun.  I love and have always loved the Beatles.  I've never understood the question: The Beatles or The Stones?  The Rolling Stones are no where near as prolific as the Beatles and have never put out the sheer number of songs and albums the Beatles had in the few years they were together.  (Also, Paul will always be cuter than Mick!) I only wish John and George were still here today to see the trail they blazed all those years ago.

While I can probably sing each and every song they released, this one is by far my favorite. It's been my ringtone for years now.  It is basically on a constant loop in my head.  I don't know why of all the amazing music, this one is at the top, but I just can't resist belting it out when I hear it - which as you can imagine, makes phone calls in public slightly awkward : )

Thanks Fab Four!  You created quite the soundtrack that pretty much everyone can appreciate and we're eternally grateful!

Happy Birthday Sir Paul!

I love Paul McCartney. "Penny Lane" is my ringtone.  I'm a HUGE Beatles fan.  There.  I've admitted it but how can you not?  He's adorable.  He's a family man.  He can sing, play the guitar AND the piano.  And he's loved by pretty much the entire world. I had the pleasure of seeing Paul play at FedEx Field 2 summers' ago, and thoroughly enjoyed every last minute of it.  He's the ultimate entertainer and he's still got "it" even after doing this for more than 40 years. Even after an hour delay (FedEx field - not the greatest of venues: not a single working bathroom in the whole place that night and no running water, not to mention the traffic situation...) Paul had the sold out crowd of more than 80K eating out of his hand for more than 2 hours with not a single break in the middle of an August heatwave (it was about 85 degrees when the sun went down).  It was truly awesome to watch and needless to say I'm anxiously awaiting his return!  In honor of this momentous occasion, have a listen to my favorite Paul song: "Blackbird".  "Blackbird" isn't his flashiest or most upbeat, but the message gets me every time.  It's never not made me smile.

So, Happy 70th Birthday Sir Paul!  Hope your special day made you feel as fabulous and loved, as your songs have made all of your fans feel over the last 40 years!
