1. SCOTUS Decision on Marriage Equality: In all honesty, this should be numbers 1-5 on the list. It's amazing to see such a momentous decision! I can't seem to fathom how it took so long for the Supreme Court to realize that individuals should be allowed the simple privilege to marry who they want to marry. It's a simple right and everyone should be allowed to do it. #LoveWins!
2. The iPhone6: After 3.5 hours spent at Verizon today arguing, fuming and all around being a major witch, I was able to get a new phone that actually works. A phone that doesn't have a delay. A phone that actually rings when someone calls. A phone who's battery doesn't die when you look at it funny. Of course, I basically had to sell my soul to receive it, but that's beside the point...
3. As to not belittle the SCOTUS decision, this was the SECOND best news I heard all week! I, like a big old dork, bought the Christmas CD and absolutely love. With each collaboration Jason Manns does, I fall a little more in love with the idea of him releasing a non-Christmas version. And it looks like he finally realized it was a fabulous idea too! Can't wait until pay day to most definitely donate : )
4. While on the KickStarter train, I also found this awesome idea and this one was actually funded. It's such a simply cool idea and the fact that it's actually happening in Baltimore, makes it even better. Can't wait to take a class or two!

I like Hobby Lobby. I just discovered it a few months ago and fell in love with the darn store. Which is why it pained me to hear about the case they were bringing to the US Supreme Court: limiting their health insurance policy to exclude birth control for employees for "religious reasons"? It pained me only a little less than the fact that SCOTUS actually ruled in favor of Hobby Lobby. How can such a ruling that's so stuck in the dark ages actually pass through the United States Supreme Court?
The worst part is that seeing that Hobby Lobby is more of a craft store, I'm sure most of their employees are women; women struggling to make ends meet and women who have families already. How can you deny them the right to any medicine because you believe something that they might not? Last I checked, it was illegal to ask for religious affiliation on a job application. So Hobby Lobby can't know if their employees have the same beliefs. Why should they be forced to practice the same thing, just to earn a buck?
Why is it that such non-action packed days are so exhausting? There was barely a bit of work to do. We celebrated a birthday so there was yummy lunching and cupcakes. Dinner was cooked for me by my lovely chef of a father. I came home and read for an hour then watched TV. And now I'm staring at the computer screen with my eyelids drooping like I've been to an all night party. When did I get so old?
On an entirely different topic, I needed to take a moment to congratulate the US Supreme Court for finally coming to their senses and repealing DOMA today as well as Prop 8 in California. It's not perfect, but it's certainly a HUGE step in the right direction to Equality! I read a great comment online today after the decision was announced. The commenter was happy with the ruling but bothered by the fact that we actually had to vote for something as simple as equality. However, since we do, at least lawmakers are finally realizing the world won't stand for inequality or un-equal treatment.
Way to go SCOTUS! Let's hope some more well-thought out decisions will soon be passing through your ranks!
