Much Too Late...

After staying up way past my bedtime (on a school night no less) chatting and laughing, I just know I'll regret it in the morning, if I spend the next hour racking my brain for something to write.  Off to bed now.  Promise to be back on track tomorrow.  Night!

Banner Weekend for Baking

After a weekend in the kitchen that included spilling melted butter all over the hardwood, dropping an egg on said hardwood, shooting salsa all over myself and the cabinets and spraying powdered sugar all over the cabinets, I suppose it's all well and good that any food made it out of the kitchen at all.  But after seeing this little Pinterest inspired beauty, I'm pretty darn thrilled with the results (if not the process...).  Actually having it taste delicious was icing on the cake (see what I did there? : )

London Lit Love

I'm a big fan of cities doing fun things all around town.  A few years ago, Baltimore got in on the act with some super cute crab statues decorated by different organizations with different themes.  In the past year, Annapolis had some fun too with bird statues popping up all over the place.(I can't say why they picked birds though.  Crabs I get in Maryland, but birds?)

But leave it to London to knock everyone else out of the park.  They've chosen to decorate benches that look like open books with children's book characters. (They have other non-children's books too, but the kids lit's are just too adorable!)  How cute is that?  It's perfect for a city and country so ingrained with all things literature to celebrate the best in books.  I have to say, I knew there was a reason London has always had my heart.  (But really?  No Harry Potter?!)

Happy Fourth of July!

Some people may call sitting lakeside for 6 hours reading 300 pages of a great book with people you love nearby doing the same thing, while waiting for seriously late fireworks to begin, an epic fail.  I call it a pretty darn perfect way to spend the Fourth of July.  Add on top of that, actually getting some firework shots that look like fireworks rather than abstract art, and I'm a pretty happy girl.  However, having to wear a fleece in July in Maryland, was a bit unexpected and not all that fun.

Happy Fourth of July America!

Let's Try This Again

So I have to say that the June Caring Cards didn't go as well as I had planned.  I thought Etsy was going to be easy, but not so much.  I'm still working on figuring things out and getting recognition and sales has been one of the things I've been struggling with.  But I'm still hopeful.  So that brings us to this month's Caring Cards.  In honor of Independence Day, this month's card sales will be going towards the Wounded Warrior Project.  I'll have a full rundown this weekend, but here's the sneak peek. Enjoy!

Social Media Geniuses

There have been some pretty amazing things that have happened on social media.  Some companies just get what to do and they do it brilliantly.  While others, just wind up embarrassing themselves.  But this week, this week, takes the cake.  Between some serious World Cup drama, super television news and just a bit of fun out of the golf world, these guys win the internet for best uses of social media!

Tim Howard is everyone's hero even though we lost to the Belgians.  It didn't take long for the hash tag #ThingsTimHowardCouldSave to make its way around twitter.  This one is my personal favorite.

Then there was the big announcement by the BBC this afternoon at 2:21 (clever, huh?) GBR time.  There was never any doubt as to whether Sherlock was going to be picked up for a 4th season, but as it turns out, there was a surprise.  We get a 4th episode this season instead of the usual 3. Of course, there's always a catch - the fourth season won't be premiering until Christmas...2015.  Seriously!?  But at least we got to see loads of creepy Moriarties making the rounds.

Then the golf world decided to get involved too.  I literally have no idea where this idea even came from, but the videos are super cute!  Also, I'm just itching to see if gloomy Gus Tiger, decides to get himself in on the action and for once actually have a little fun.

Well, That Sucked...

After years and years of not giving a lick about soccer, I have to admit I became a bit of a fan these last few weeks.  It was pretty exciting to see lots of Americans make the same discovery I did: It's actually pretty awesome.  The running those guys do is pretty insane and they are athletes even more so than football players, in my opinion. Imagine someone like Haloti Ngata, running back and forth on a field for 90 minutes.  I'm not thinking he'd be able to.

But as cool and exciting as it's been, it seems the party is over for the Americans.  After 2 straight hours of playing their hearts out, the Belgians were able to beat the US 2-1.  So depressing!  I'm not sure if Soccer does the whole MVP thing, but if they do, Tim Howard deserves the title more than any other goal-keeper ever!  He may have given up 2 goals, but the number he prevented was 5 times that.  He's a pretty amazing guy and it was neat to see him get the love on social media, that he's been deserving.

Of course now that the US is out, even though Soccer isn't as boring as I once thought, I'm probably done watching it.  But, I'm proud our boys!  Go USA!!
