As it's ridiculously late, and I'm ridiculously old (seriously, who stays up until midnight? this is crazy talk!) I'm going to focus on the top 5 things that made me happy this week.
1. Even though she kept me up late, I love having a bestie evening - going for BBQ, eating all sorts of yummy food then hanging and chatting for 4 more hours. There's much to discuss and so much more to laugh about!
2. I'm super, duper ecstatic that it looks like we turned the corner on the crazy changing Maryland weather. It's finally spring! The trees are blooming. The sun is shining. The flowers are popping up. And most importantly, it's finally warm enough for capris and flip-flops. Thank goodness for that! I liked my boots, but flip-flops will eternally be my most favorite footwear.
3. I'm also very, very happy that the campaign I shared last night, made it past 12K shirts in the 24 hours since it started. In case you're counting, that's 11K more shirts than they hoped to sell in the first place. And with some sweatshirts (the cheapest are $19.99) topping out at $39.99, that's a WHOLE lot of money for charity.
4. I'm excited that the dude with the anger management problems at work has decided to quit, single handedly making our lives and his (I hope) much better. The dude was nice but seriously, life's too short to be that moody all the time!
5. And mostly, I'm just waiting excitedly for Emporiyum tomorrow and Texas next week. I love having things to look forward to, and these are the first of many fun excursions planned for the year. So far 2015 is looking up!
If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got...

Seasonably Happy
I've been pretty condescending to the whole idea of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Even the acronym is stupid. SAD, if you're unaware is a disorder that makes you unhappy in the dark dreary months of winter. Duh! I think we all feel that way, especially if you live in a state covered in cold white snow for the majority of the winter months.
However, while I'm still not ready to accept it's a real thing, I am willing to accept that the whole spring fever thing might be real. Even though it snowed on Friday (the official first day of spring) and even though it was darn freezing, I'm in full-on spring mode. I'm organizing, and cleaning, and planning. I have vacations in the works and craft projects brewing. I'm super happy when I wake up to the sunshine and I'm ready to see it a bit more often.
I most definitely do not have SAD, mostly because I swear there's no way it's real, but I do attest to suffering from Spring Fever and I'm pretty sure the only cure, is summer : )

Feeling Moody
There are so many reasons why I love Pinterest. One of the chief reasons is that when I get completely blocked and can't think of a single thing to write about, I can just search blog prompts and find the perfect idea for that particular day. Today's was based on a March list of 31 prompts but I liked it so much I just had to use it: A song and a photo to match your mood. Pretty perfect right!? So without further ado, I give you "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina & the Waves (Not sure I ever really knew who sang this song...) and this ridiculous picture of me a few years ago at the Cherry Blossom Festival, laughing my blossoms off.
Based on the 2, one could assume I'm pretty happy. And for some reason, I am just thrilled this week. It's finally spring which means the sun's been shining brightly almost every day. There are trees and flowers in bloom and all the cutesy critters are out for me to see during my morning walks. On top of all that, things seem to be going really well, almost too well. I'm getting lots of crafting done, and there are vacations in the works and I'm doing lots of the things I've been wanting to do and loving doing them. Pretty much, I'm high on life right now and I can think of no song better than "Walking on Sunshine" to illustrate that!

Happy (Or Unhappy, I suppose) Tax Day!
There are things I just don't understand. Things that are a normal part of life, that I accept, but don't fully get. Taxes are one of those things. Oh, I get the money part. I realize that the government needs money and it's our job to give them some of ours. But past that point, I'm lost.
- How does one actually commit tax fraud? I mean, taxes come right out of my paycheck each week. Even if I wanted to not give the government my money, I couldn't succeed. But hundreds (maybe thousands) of Americans go to jail each year for committing the act.
- Why do so many people wait until April 14th to do their taxes? I mean, seriously? Aren't you scared that your computer is going to break or the internet is going to go down or an asteroid is going to hit the mail box that you've just used to mail the papers? Wouldn't life be so much less stressful if you just did it months ago when you got all the docs in the mail?
- What exactly is a tax break and how can I get in on that action? I know millionaires get them but I'm thinking they're rich enough to pay the same darn taxes all of us average people are paying, right?
- How does one even succeed in "doing" one's taxes? There are an awful lot of numbers, letters, symbols, etc. on those darn documents that come in the mail. One false move, and you're in the poor house instead of living the high life. I know TurboTax looks simple and I'm fairly good with a computer, but the accountant has some fancy letters after his name that tell me he's not going to screw it up as royally as I am, therefore, I'm willing to pay anything he asks.
In hindsight, I probably should have gone the accounting root - I wouldn't have to write a post about all the things I didn't understand about taxes, and I'd be rolling in the dough of all the schmucks like me...
Here's hoping all of our refunds are big and our losses are tiny. Happy Tax Day!

Friday Five
1. Chevron!: Whether it be the fabulous new Jonathan Adler Toms I just got or the super-cute grey and white curtains I bought for the living room, I'm in love with all things Chevron. I'm not sure what it is about it, but it's pretty darn awesome!
2. A Beautiful Mess Casual Fridays: A Beautiful Mess always has lots of fun ideas and crafty things, but recently they've started Casual Friday posts where they share lots of what's happening behind the scenes. All I can say is that their work days seem much more fun than mine do!
3. While I've never been a big fan of April Fool's Day this college prank is pretty darn clever. The students must have worked on this for weeks. It's the perfect combination of funny and not mean.
4. Spring has sprung! I've always thought the whole seasonal affective disorder was a load of hooey but since the sun came out and the temps warmed up, I've been much happier and back in the groove!
5. Mexican Feasts: Mexican food is my go to meal pretty much any time I have the choice. It makes me very very happy. So of course, I was going to ask for it for my birthday. While my own personal chef (i.e. my dad) is a kick a*# cook every day of the year, he outdid himself with the 4 different types of salsa, pico de gallo, chile con queso, asado de puerco and chile verde. I've never eaten so much in all my life and it was absolutely, positively delicious! (Thanks bud!)

Nesting
I have lived in my house for about 4 years now. At the time I bought it, I bought it for the same reason I bought the car that I have - it was the cheapest one on the market. (Yes, I'm a cheapskate with certain things). Don't get me wrong, I don't hate it. It does have some redeeming qualities and I've decorated quite nicely so there's that. But, let's just say, if I'm still living here in 10 years' time with 10 cats, I'm going to be quite depressed.
Because of this and the whole I want to move to England thing, I've resisted doing anything crazy or making big renovations because I want to save the money for English pursuits and I don't want to get too attached so when I do move, I'm not disappointed. It makes sense in my head if not down on paper, I promise. But thanks to Pinterest and some serious googling, I've been in spring cleaning re-do mood for the last month. I'm not entirely sure why but it's been quite fun. There's been painting, and shelving, and re-organizing and now I'm in to the "let's build this crazy thing - it shouldn't be too hard" shabang. My father loves this phase...
I have plans for nearly every room (lucky for me I have a handy dad that can pull off most of my whims) and crazy ideas that may or may not work for all other spaces. Don't fret, I'm still on the England kick and when I meet Prince Charming who will ultimately sweep me off my feet and move me to his brownstone, I'll leave this place in the dust. But for now I'm here, so I suppose I should make it at least a bit more fun than it has been. Also, the better it looks, (in my head at least this is true), the better it will sell when the time does come. Of course, with the market the way it is, I'm thinking this darn little slice of paradise will be stuck with me for at least a few years to come...

Friday Five
1. Eudaimonia: I came across this word in an article this week. I'm assuming most people are like me and have never heard the word used before. Apparently it means "contented state of being happy and healthy and prosperous" which is just a lovely definition. The weird part is that for such a fabulous definition, you'd think the word itself would be more elegant. As it stands, it sounds like some terrible disease one gets from climbing through jungles. But it's a lovely thought nonetheless.
2. I've just finished my 4th book in the 44 Scotland series by Alexander McCall Smith. In the book Domenica quotes Auden as saying "If equal affection cannot be, let the more loving be me." I just loved the quote. It's beautiful and so lovey-dovey. I'm such a sap!
3. "Broadchurch": Technically I shouldn't have seen this since it's airing in Britain first before it comes here but thank goodness for the Internet. It's basically a British version of "The Killing" which I've never seen but heard was fabulous. The murder mystery plot catches you from the first few minutes and the secrets are just aggravating enough to keep you watching. I'm already dying to know why DI Hardy is so touchy about an old case or why the vicar looked so worried and I'm only one episode in. Hoping upon hope the next 7 will show up online because I'm not sure I can stay away from spoilers until it gets here.
4. Changing the clocks. I know this hasn't technically occurred yet, but it means that spring is right around the corner. I'm not sure about you, but I'm about done with gray days. I'm ready for some sun and flowers and color!
5. Republic of Tea's British Breakfast Tea: My current obsession. Some people crave Starbucks mocha-chino-latte things, I crave this boring old tea. So far the only place I've been able to find it is at Panera. But I've been keeping my eye out for it. It's good stuff!
