A Halloween Wish...

When witches go riding,
and black cats are seen,
the moon laughs and whispers,
‘tis near Halloween.

When black cats prowl and pumpkins gleam,
May luck be yours on Halloween.

Because Everyone (but me) has a story...

I should probably start by telling you a little about myself.  I am a single girl (obviously!) who is hoping to find some adventure and maybe a story or two along the way.  I "work" in the Educational Technology field.  "Work" is in quotation marks because there isn't much "work" to be had.  Basically I'm a cubicle dweller who spends the day surfing the internet.  This "job" is a great source of income, seeing as I'm against living on the street, however it's definitely not a passion of mine.  I haven't really found that passion yet but I'm hoping to, eventually...
Outside of work I'm pretty scattered in the things I enjoy.  I describe myself as a "foodie on a budget".  This basically means I want to be Anthony Bourdain when I grow up.  I want to travel the world eating new and interesting things (however I would probably never touch about half of the things that man eats. I mean, Seriously! Have you seen some of the stuff that man consumes? Yuck!).  However, I must limit myself to the new and interesting things that Maryland has to offer, which in all honesty is quite a lot!  I'm a scrapbook junkie.  I seriously think that I got into scrapbooking beacuse the supplies in the Craft stores were so inviting. And lately I've taken a shine to decorating my condo as well (which allowed me to shop in all sorts of new areas of the Craft store that I'd never explored: ).  Lastly, I'm an avid TV fan (aka Couch potato). I can waste an entire day on a Food Network marathon : )  I also have a great group of friends and an amazing family.  However, very little adventure...that's where this blog comes in.

Today starts something different...

My goal for the rest of my life is to settle down, get married and raise a family.  However, when you're shy it's very hard to meet guys.  So the plan for this blog (and my life) is to do things that terrify me. By expanding my horizons, I hopeto meet people and have fun, and hopefully the white picket fence will follow. I'm a bit of a wimp.  I know what I like and I know what I don't like and I live my life to those standards.  However, there's very little excitement and adventure in living like that.  My hope is to do at least 1 thing that scares me or interests me every week.  When I speak of scary and terrifying things, please note, I'm not talking about cliff diving, or jumping out of airplanes.  I am talking about regular everyday things that I'm too shy or too wimpy to try.  For example, I've already completed number one on my list: Start a Blog.  For anyone who knows me, they know that this is something that is totally out of character for me.  I don't enjoy writing or being the center of attention.  But I've done it and it's not so bad, so far. (Let's see how i feel about it a few weeks from now : )

    Other ideas:
*Take a class in something I know nothing about
*Drive over the Bay Bridge (Scary!)
*Go to a bar and meet someone new
*Send in a sample of my artwork to a Scrapbook magazine.

Like I said they are everyday things, but they are big to me.  If you have any other suggestions I'd love to hear about them. After all, 52 weeks worth is a lot of scary things, and I'm just not creative enough to think of them all by myself.  Along the way I hope to share some of the things in my life as well, not just the scary stuff.   My biggest goal is to meet new people and to find some adventure along the way.  I hope that this is just the beginning of my story....
