Thanks to the Baltimore Sun, I learned about a great new-ish (apparently, it's been around for years but it just changed hands), restaurant in Odenton. The Hideaway is the new Anne Arundel County destination for all things BBQ. And after one visit, I'm hooked! Everything I ate - and I ate ALOT - was delicious! The review was very positive, but I wasn't really expecting much when I saw the place. However, first looks were deceiving!
First off before I even got to the food, I decided I'm a big fan of their logo, which is a weird thing to notice, but whatever. It's adorable! Then of course, it was the food. According to the review, the wings were the specialty of the house - man, were they right! They were to die for! I wasn't a big fan of the sauces, though, but since we ordered the smoked then fried wings naked, it wasn't really an issue. The pulled pork pierogies were equally as delicious, though I would have liked them not fried.
On to the main event, which was a Brisket sandwich and Mac & Cheese. The brisket was yummy as well, but not as yummy as Mission BBQ's - my personal ruler for all things Brisket. The mac and cheese was good, but next time I'll be trying out the hush puppies with honey cinnamon butter.
As for dessert, they make ice cream in specialty flavors like fresh strawberry or apple pie in house, and then they create milkshake creations with those flavors - some boozy and some not. While all of that sounds delightful, I go for Peanut Butter Pie every time I see it. I'm quite glad I did. So delish!
All in all, a great new restaurant in MD, that I will certainly be adding to my list of loves for the year!
