Friday Five: Christmas Season

1. Of course this goes without saying, but Thanksgiving dinner.  I ate and ate and ate turkey, dressing, (LOTS of dressing), green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy.  And it was delicious! I know that I eat turkey and dressing all throughout the year, however, it's just so much better when you have it on Turkey day surrounded by family after watching the parade and before lapsing into a food coma.  It makes the perfect beginner to the Christmas season.

2. Christmas Music!  I tend to be slightly grouchy over when the Christmas music starts. Usually, I'm complaining that it's started on the radio at least a week before Thanksgiving. But this year, I went looking for it a few weeks ago, since Thanksgiving was so late and when I couldn't find it, I broke out the iPhone Christmas playlist.  But now that it's begun, it's won't be ending until at least New Years.

This is my absolute favorite and will be on a constant loop throughout the next month.

3. Black Friday Shopping: I'd like to say this right now, I'm not one of the crazy ones that finish their turkey and run out the door to stand in line for the next 10 hours waiting for a $99 X-box.  I've NEVER seen the appeal of doing that.  Also usually, it's much too cold and I'm a big old ninny.  But, even though I whine about all the people in all the stores and not being able to navigate through the hordes, it's quite fun to be in the scrum with everyone else.  I'm never really one to find the great deals on perfect presents, since I do a lot of shopping before hand, but it's always nice to pick up a few things I've been coveting while the sales are great.

4. Christmas Lights: I love seeing the first few houses decorated before you start to see them everywhere.  There's something about seeing that Christmas tree lit up in someone's front window, that really says Christmas to me.

5. Christmas Crafting:  Pinterest is all to blame for this.  If I didn't have enough to do with all the wrapping, buying, card making and baking, now I also have to create the 15 different crafts I've pinned and planned to give as gifts.  Yes, I stress out about them all but giving homemade gifts is just so much more fun than giving store bought (not that store bought isn't good too because I love me some Barnes & Noble : )
