I love award shows, most especially the Emmy awards. However, lately they've been pretty boring since everything I watch, is pretty much never nominated. Anyway, that doesn't stop me from watching the red carpet interviews. I love seeing the dresses and all the dreamy dudes in tuxes. But the one thing that's been getting old are the interviewers. It's the same old stuff all the time.
The only question they know is who are you wearing? Honestly, I like pretty dresses as much as the next girl, but I honestly don't care who designed it. It doesn't make me like it or hate it any more than I already do. Also, it's really rude. You don't hear Ryan Seacrest asking George Clooney or Jon Hamm who they're wearing, do you? It's always the girls.
That's why I love what Amy Poehler Smart Girls did tonight for the Emmy Awards. They had followers send in questions that they'd like answered. Questions of substance and that are way more interesting than what they're wearing. Questions like what charities do you support and why? or what character from literature would you really like to play? The answers are funny and fabulous. How great is that!? You go girls! Let's hope the red carpet interviewers take the Smart Girl's lead for the next award show.
