I've never quite figured out the point of getting angry, grabbing a gun and randomly shooting at people you've never met. What exactly does it achieve? The person or persons you are mad at, don't know you're mad at them. You've just thrown away your whole life for a silly argument or grudge. And the only people that are really being hurt are innocent bystanders who've committed the crime of coming into work or going to school.
Today's shooting at the DC Navy Yard was just a little too close to home. Maryland and DC are quite close. I know people who know people that work there each day. Seeing news reports multiply shooters from 1 to 2 then possibly 3 but then downgrading back to 2; then seeing the numbers of the dead go from 4 to 11 to 13 was just heartbreaking. But seeing all the agencies that swooped into assist and all the citizens that came to their aide really showed what America is truly about.
Focusing on the good, instead of the evil that chose to do the shooting is how we continually get through catastrophes like this. But these catastrophes really must end. I'm worried for the goodness in the world ultimately being beaten down by the evil.
