Friday Five

In an effort to seem just a bit less grinchy, here are my top 5 favorite things about the Christmas season.

1. Presents!  I think everyone enjoys getting presents.  But I love giving them as well.  I get super excited when I know I've found the perfect gift for someone.  Etsy helps a lot with this. I'm always able to find something unique and perfect for people.  Crafting also really helps. This year, I've been a bit more frazzled and bit more overwhelmed than in years past, but I hope the people I love know that I've really tried to spoil them, just as much as they've spoiled me over the years.

2. Christmas Television:  Every Christmas episode of every television show ever made, is fantastic.  There's just something that makes them sparkle a bit more than usual.  My most favorite will always be Noel - The West Wing.  It's beautiful and there will never be a better Christmas message than the people you love are here for you no matter what you're going through.  Not to mention, Yo Yo Ma scoring one of the crucial scenes, has got to be one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking scenes ever shot.

3. Christmas tunes: Pretty much a re-tread of last week's post, but how can one not get a little excited about the holidays when you turn on the radio and hear all sorts of Christmas songs from classics to new age pop?  Sure they tend to play the same ones over and over, but aren't they grand?!

4. Christmas Cookies: Really?  Did you really think this wouldn't be on the list?  Afterall once December hits, cookies become one of the 4 food groups.

5. Togetherness: Hokie yes.  But totally true.  Everyone just seems a bit nicer, a bit kinder and a bit more loving at Christmas time.  You see friends and family you haven't seen in a while and you get to share good times together.  What other holiday gives you songs, food, presents, entertainment and family times?  It's pretty much the best holiday ever!
