So Long Willy Wonka
I love Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I must have watched the movie dozens of times when I was little. And in that particular movie, I can't imagine any one but Gene Wilder playing Willy Wonka. He was just so good. He could change his moods on a dime - terrifying to kind in a split second. It's just such a classic part played by such an amazing actor.
What's even more amazing about him is that this wasn't his only "classic" part. He was in dozens of other films over the course of his career and played at least 4-5 other unforgettable roles. None of which I loved as much as Willy Wonka - though I do admit to having a bit of a soft spot for Franken-steen. Finally - I hated the movie for years, but he finally won me over.
His death is such a loss and he will be sorely missed. It's good to know though that he'll live on in so many others hearts. Based on the outpouring of love he's received since his death was announced earlier today, he'll live in for a very, very long time.
