Love, Actually...

Can we just agree that "Love, Actually" is the epitome of chick flicks?  It's probably the best film ever made and any attempts to copy ("New Years Eve", "Valentine's Day" Anyone?) have failed miserably.  Aside from seeing Hugh Grant dance around 10 Downing Street, loving Colin Firth (even more than I already do) while he butchers Spanish and watching Simon finally win the heart of his true love, my favorite part is at the very end of the movie.  The Prime Minister has just come back from a trip and Natalie welcomes him home by jumping into his arms in front of the London press in the middle of Heathrow, while "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys plays in the background.

Is there any girl that hasn't visited the airport and made that song her soundtrack for the trip (while of course, secretly wishing Hugh Grant was landing there as well)?  I was there just this afternoon, and couldn't help myself from humming the tune while witnessing all the happy reunions, most especially my own with my aunt and uncle.  So happy to have them home with us and so excited to spend the week doing all kinds of fun and random things!  The Prime Minister (the Hugh Grant version, not the real one of course) was right, there's nothing better than an airport terminal reunion because you finally see that Love, actually is all around us...

I have to disagree about Valentine's Day. Yeah, it was an obvious copy, but a well done one. New Year's Eve... not so much.

Totally agree on New Year's Eve too! But you can't copy a classic...we'll have to agree to disagree : )
