A few years ago, everyone was reading this book. I saw it everywhere. At the time I assumed it was some sort of self-help book. Then I learned it was an actual true story that involved travel, which made me want to read it at least. But then I saw the movie, hated the whole thing and assumed the book was just as bad. However after so many people recommending it as one of the best travel books ever written, I just had to take the plunge.
And, oh my goodness! Why did it take me so long to realize just how fantastic this book really is? I'm only about half way through the first third (1/6th?) and I'm in love. I would give my right arm to be able to write as well as she can. It's beautiful and snarky and funny and she makes me want to sell all my belongings and travel the world (I mean more so than I already do).
It's been a while since I was this engrossed in a book this quickly and I guarantee I'll be picking up all her others as soon as I'm finished with this one!
