So today is election day and I have to say I feel like a total slacker. I didn't vote. What's even sadder is, I didn't even look at the ballot. I know who's running the big races but couldn't tell you who the little guys are or the laws that they're hoping to pass. This is not like me. Not to get all Rosie the Riveter on the subject of voting, but I always vote. I like the process even though I know it's flawed. I like knowing I have the teeniest tiniest chance of making a difference.
But this time around, I just couldn't. I didn't have a runner in the race, so to speak. I refuse to vote for one party and hated the guy in my own party. Either way it goes, it's a lose lose situation, which sucks. So instead of still doing my civic duty, I bailed and left it to others that really care.
By failing at the whole voting thing, according to everyone on social media, I now have no right to complain about a single thing until the next election cycle. But apparently everyone who has that little "I voted" sticker does has every right to moan and whine. Do you think that's why they're so hog wild about posting "I Voted" selfies all over Twitter and Facebook? Just to have proof when they start ranting about politics? I know sharing EVERYTHING on twitter is the new black, but really? Seeing your sticker isn't shaming me all that much...and I'll probably just complain anyway. I'll just gloss over the whole not voting thing when I do:)
