As one of my many resolutions this year, I vowed to start taking more pictures to help me get more comfortable with my camera. So to do this, I naturally started googling ideas to help me do this (well, let's be honest, I started Pinteresting ideas to help...) Anyway, in my research I found lots of creatives participating in "A Day in the Life." It's pretty self explanatory, but you basically document all parts of one normal day in your life.
So I decided a few weeks ago to give it a try. I closed my eyes and pointed to a date on January's calendar. The date I chose was tomorrow. Here's the thing, as in all new endeavors, it seemed like a great idea at the time. How hard could it be? But now that I'm there, I've realized that it's a little hinky. For starters, most of these creatives, work from home and have no one to stare at them while they take beautiful shots of their morning coffee.
Also, they live much more exciting lives I'm sure; filled with pets and children. I work in a cubicle and type on a computer most days. How exciting can you make a photo of a keyboard? Then I have to worry about the whole people looking at me or asking me questions. It's a whole thing.
But, that's not to say I'm not going to do it. Like I said on January 1, I want to start saying yes to more things. So that's what I'm going to do. Say yes to documenting the every day life of me.
But don't say I didn't warn you when you're looking at the fairly mundane shots of my day tomorrow...
