Scrapper's Problems

I've finally gotten my album in the mail for my Texas pictures, so I finally decided to start scrapping it.  Here's the issue with that.

I can spend my entire day thinking of fantastic ideas to scrap, but the second I sit down with paper and glue, those ideas go out the window for one reason or another.  The reason is usually that it doesn't look as good in person as it does in my head.  How do scrappers get past this?  I've never been able to figure it out.  These scrappy people spend days on end creating pages and in theory they have unlimited ideas - all of which work.  Why do I think so much?

The other issue I have is that when I finally get something down on paper, it never looks how I wanted it to look.  I can go into it thinking it's going to have a theme, such as pastel colors with flowers, and yet still it turns into something completely different. How does that happen?  I suppose it's just the process of creativity, but it's sort of annoying.

This was totally the case this evening.  Believe it or not, I started out wanting a vintage-y feel with some light colors, alphabet stamps and some wood embellishments.  The wood embellishments were the only thing that stayed - neon somehow replaced the pastels and because of some serious stamping issues, the alphabet stamps were replaced by stickers. But in this case, even though it's not what I wanted, I'm kinda liking it so far.  We'll see tomorrow...That's another Scrapper Problem - not actually liking something after you've slept on it...

Do other creative people have this issue?  Or am I just odd?
